Established in autumn 1949, Hainan Normal University (HNU) is located in the capital city of Hainan---Haikou. Being a key university with distinctive teacher-training and comprehensive strength in multi-disciplines at the provincial level, the University boasts a long history with excellent education in undergraduate courses at university level evaluated by the Ministry of Education, and a university authorized to grant both master and doctorate degrees by the Office of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee.

● HNU now consists of 3 campuses, occupying an area of 1,388,500 square meters. There are 869 full-time faculty members and a student enrollment of more than 20,000.

● HNU brings into full play its advantages as being one of the earliest universities designated for international student enrollment by the Ministry of Education, the Educational Base of Chinese Language for international students approved by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the Southeast Asian Teacher-training Base for Promotion of Chinese, the designated institution to admit students awarded Confucius Institute Scholarship and the designated Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) Center in Hainan province approved by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters of Ministry of Education.
